Muscle Up — a high-performance WooCommerce store built for serious fitness equipment.
Nifty Websites Australia developed a customised eCommerce platform for Muscle Up — combining custom product experiences, automated tiered pricing, Mainfreight freight integration, multiple payment options, interactive product features and third-party API integrations in one streamlined WooCommerce website.
More than a standard fitness equipment store.
Muscle Up needed an eCommerce website capable of doing much more than displaying products and processing basic online orders. Fitness equipment brings its own challenges — products can be large and heavy, freight needs to be handled differently from a typical parcel-based store, customers need detailed information before committing, and pricing can change depending on the quantities ordered.
The website also needed to bring together payment providers, customer reviews, freight services, pricing rules and other external systems without creating a complicated experience for the customer. Nifty Websites Australia built the platform on WordPress and WooCommerce, customised around the way the business actually sells, prices and delivers — rather than relying on a standard WooCommerce setup.
Automated tiered discounts with Discount Rules
Muscle Up needed a flexible way to reward customers buying in larger quantities. Nifty Websites Australia implemented Discount Rules within WooCommerce to automate tiered and quantity-based pricing — so the right discount is triggered automatically when the conditions of an offer are met.
No manual price changes and no promo codes to remember — bulk buying is clearer for customers, and far easier for the Muscle Up team to manage behind the scenes.

Connecting the online store with Mainfreight
Freight is a major part of selling large fitness equipment online. A conventional flat-rate shipping setup was not enough, so Nifty Websites Australia integrated Mainfreight functionality into the WooCommerce environment to connect freight requirements with the online purchasing process.
This lets the website support the logistics of selling larger, heavier products — instead of forcing Muscle Up into a standard small-parcel eCommerce model. The build supports what happens after the customer clicks Buy, not just the experience leading up to the sale.
Custom product pages & interactive imagery
Fitness equipment is a considered purchase — customers need to understand specifications, dimensions, features and configurations before deciding. Rather than relying on standard WooCommerce templates, Nifty Websites Australia developed customised product-page experiences that structure information clearly and let imagery play a bigger role.
For selected products we implemented interactive image hotspots, so customers can explore different areas of a product image to learn about individual components — product education without forcing them through large amounts of text, and especially valuable for technical equipment.

Selling large fitness equipment online is different.
A standard WooCommerce implementation often assumes a relatively simple transaction:
Muscle Up’s requirements are considerably broader. Different products have different freight considerations, customers may qualify for different pricing depending on quantities, products can require detailed explanation, multiple payment providers need to work within the same checkout, reviews need to support decisions, and external services need to communicate with WooCommerce.
At the same time, all of that complexity needs to remain largely invisible to the customer. Our role was to bring those requirements together into one experience — the complexity sits behind the scenes, and the customer simply sees a website that works.
Building functionality without forgetting speed.
Feature-rich WooCommerce websites can become slow very quickly — product imagery, interactive elements, payment gateways, review platforms, freight functionality and third-party integrations all add scripts and requests. Performance optimisation was an important part of the work.
Nifty Websites Australia worked across website assets, image optimisation, script loading, caching and general WooCommerce performance to achieve the strongest practical page speed while retaining the functionality the business needs. The goal was not to strip features for the sake of a score — it was to find the right balance between speed, functionality and customer experience.
Design + WooCommerce + integrations + custom development.
An eCommerce platform built around the company’s actual sales process — one connected customer journey.
Behind that journey sits a connected ecosystem of WooCommerce functionality, third-party plugins, APIs, payment platforms and logistics integrations. That’s what makes this project valuable from a development perspective: the technology adapts to the operation, rather than forcing the operation to adapt to the technology.
A WooCommerce website built to handle more than online orders.
Nifty Websites Australia developed Muscle Up’s WordPress and WooCommerce platform to bring together product discovery, custom product experiences, interactive image hotspots, automated tiered discounts, Mainfreight freight functionality, Stripe and PayPal payments, ReviewX, performance optimisation and external API integrations — a connected eCommerce platform designed around the practical realities of selling fitness equipment online, from research through to pricing, payment, freight and fulfilment.
